Charles Durning was married to his wife, Mary Ann Amelio, for over 42 years until her death in 2009. Mary Ann Amelio was an accomplished artist and sculptor, and the couple had three children together. They met in the 1950s while working in the same bar in New York City, and got married in 1959. Mary Ann was Charles' biggest supporter throughout his acting career, often attending red carpet events with him and lending her support behind the scenes. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and talented artist.
